Designed and manufactured by German company Cerbomed, Nemos t-VNS is a device that will revolutionise the way epilepsy patients are treated.
Patients with drug resistant epilepsy often find themselves turning to more extreme treatment methods such as vagal nerve stimulation (VNS). VNS involves a stimulator (or pulse generator) being surgically connected to the left vagus nerve in the neck. This stimulator then delivers electrical impulses to the brain stem which can have a significant anti-convulsive effect on the patient.
Nemos t-VNS is a device which creates the same effect as invasive vagal nerve therapy but without the need for any surgical intervention. The auricular branch of the vagus nerve which runs through the ear, is stimulated transcutaneously by using a small electrode placed in your outer ear.
The Nemos device consists of a stimulation unit and an ear electrode and is available to purchase from www.nemos.uk.com
