Although the equipment is below the barrier drapes, we know that it is almost impossible through hand washing and alcohol wiping alone to be completely confident in the decontamination and washing of the system, without taking the time to dismantle the system in it is entirety. The reality of this option is that it is impractical, it is time consuming, and the reassembling has to be carried out by a fully trained and authorized member of clinical staff, due to the vital role that the equipment plays in modern day Neurosurgical positioning.
