Carbon Reduction Plan including Emissions Reports

P39 micellaneous

The first step in developing a carbon reduction plan has been to understand Delta Surgical’s carbon footprint, considering the entire value chain, including materials, manufacturing, transportation and distribution.

Click on the ‘Carbon Footprint Report 2023’ PDF listed below to see what we found.

Based on this carbon footprint assessment we have set ambitious but achievable targets and goals for reducing carbon emissions. These goals are specific, measurable, and time-bound, committing Delta Surgical to a Net Zero goal by 2048. This will necessitate reducing our carbon footprint by 8% each year (2.05tonnes pa).

Reducing Emissions

One of the biggest sources of carbon emissions for Delta Surgical is energy consumption. In the PDF document ‘Baseline Emissions Footprint’ listed below we have looked to identify our current level of emissions and where they come from. This provides opportunities to reduce energy consumption in the company's operations, such as investing in energy-efficient equipment, optimising building management systems, and encouraging staff to adopt energy-saving practices and investing in energy efficient EV based transportation.

Optimise transportation

Transportation is common source of carbon emissions. We have identified opportunities to optimise transportation by increasing the number of EV / Hybrid vehicles, optimising sustainable product distribution solutions and encouraging staff to participate in the 'Cycle to Work' salary sacrifice scheme.

Reduce waste

Identify opportunities to reduce waste throughout Delta Surgical's value chain, such as implementing a waste reduction program, increasing the use of recycled materials / packaing and reducing the overall volume of packaging.

Engage staff and stakeholders

Engage staff and stakeholders in the carbon reduction plan by providing training, communicating progress and encouraging participation in sustainability initiatives.

Monitor and report progress

Monitor progress towards carbon reduction targets and report on progress regularly. This will help to identify areas where further improvements can be made and demonstrate Delta Surgical's commitment to sustainability to customers and stakeholders.

To help in achieving net zero by 2048 we have become a member of the Staffordshire Business and Environment Network. Click on the ‘Membership Certificate 2023 2024’ PDF listed below.
